College Campus Visits

This past week, leaders within Indiana Pharmacy Association (IPA) traveled to Purdue and Butler University to share their unique career paths and how IPA has supported their professional growth as a practicing pharmacist.  
 
Purdue's visit last week focused on the historical background of IPA, how students can play a role in supporting policy changes on a local scale, and the importance of being active in local affiliations beyond graduation. Following the informational session, students had the opportunity to socialize with the speakers and ask targeted questions regarding their career and how their respective role in IPA supported pharmacy practice. Our speakers represented careers in health-system administration, non-traditional, community practice, and academia, offering interest to a wider scope of students and capturing the diversity of members within the local association.  
 
On Wednesday, leaders on IPA's IACP board hosted an event with Butler University students to share their personal journey of working in community practice, highlighting their passion for accessible patient care and providing examples of impactful moments in their careers. Students engaged with insightful questions on the future direction of retail pharmacy and how the speaker's affiliation within IPA has led to pharmacy advancement in their respective practice. This event offered an opportunity for students to hear first-hand of the critical role community pharmacists play in ensuring patients feel supported their health care journey.
 
Our members appreciate opportunities to interact with students and hear their ideas on how to expand pharmacy practice, as well as share their own. We look forward to participating in more events with our local colleges of pharmacy and uplifting rising pharmacy professionals!
