Pharmacy Access to Contraceptives for Hoosiers Training

The Pharmacy Access to Contraceptives for Hoosiers (PATCH), in collaboration with the Indiana Pharmacy Association, held its inaugural contraceptive training for pharmacists on May 24. This comprehensive program included education on contraceptive methods, the Indiana Standing Order, patient-centered counseling, and health equity practices. Additional sessions are scheduled for June 4 in Clarksville and June 5 in Bloomington.

The Pharmacy Access to Contraceptives for Hoosiers (PATCH), in collaboration with the Indiana Pharmacy Association, launched its first contraceptive training program for pharmacists on May 24. The training comprised two main sections: Contraception Prescribing Education for Indiana Pharmacists and Health Equity Training for Pharmacists Providing Contraceptive Care. 

 

The Contraception Prescribing Education covered various contraceptive methods, the Indiana Standing Order, proper blood pressure techniques, and patient case studies. After a lunch break, we resumed with the Health Equity Training, which addressed patient-centered contraception counseling, implicit bias, trauma-informed care, language resources, local resources and referrals, and collaboration with community partners. 

 

The training cost is $25 and includes 7 hours of continuing education. Additional sessions are scheduled for June 4 in Clarksville and June 5 in Bloomington. To register please use the following links:
