Why Pharmacists Matter in Our Communities
There are more than 700,000 pharmacists, technicians, and student pharmacists in the United States, each dedicated to improving public health and ensuring community well-being. About 90% of Americans live within 5 miles of a pharmacy, making pharmacies one of the most accessible healthcare providers in the nation.
For many communities, the local pharmacy is more than just a place to pick up prescriptions—it's the first point of care. Patients visit their pharmacists and pharmacies twice as often as their physician's office, underscoring the essential role pharmacists play in everyday healthcare.
