Post-IPTEC Event

Yesterday, August 14, IPA hosted a post-IPTEC event at Pins Mechanical Co. in Indianapolis! There were around 40-50 residents and fellows who had the opportunity to unwind and play old-school games such as pinball, duckpin bowling, giant Jenga (my personal favorite), and more! Appetizers were also sourced from Just Chicken from The Garage Food Hall right across the street.

As an APPE student with the IPA this month, I had the opportunity to join the event as well. I was able to get advice from residents who I talked to about interviewing tips. The most important advice is to be confident! You are interviewing them just as much as they are interviewing you, and if you don't get in then it's simply their loss. There's only so much you can do, and you know yourself better the most! Another piece of advice I was given was to figure out what you want to get out of a residency and see if your values align with the program's. What makes you satisfied? What makes you happy? Those are important ideas to think about and can help you find the residency program where you feel you can be successful in! Overall, I had a very fun time, and I bet everyone else felt the same way!
